The house located beside the airport was the home of the famous Scottish author, Compton MacKenzie, most well known for his book Whisky Galore, a book parodied on events taking place on the island of Barra following the grounding of the SS Politician, off Eriskay, in 1941. Please be aware this is a private residence.
