Getting Here

There are tow ways to get to the island.

By Ferry
There is a car ferry which leaves from Oban and takes 5 hours, on some days the ferry travels to Lochboisddale in Uist. There is also a car ferry which leaves from Eriskay if you are travelling down the western isles. More info

By Air
There is a plane service which leaves from Glasgow and lands on the worlds only commercial sand landing strip, landing on the beach is a big tourist attraction and flights are often fully booked in the summer so it helps to book well in advance. More info

	Castlebay Bar - The Castlebay Bar was originally built to serve the huge numbers of people involved in the fishing of herring in the early 1990s. Today it is the best place to meet locals and visitors alike in a relaxed and friendly environment. At night there is often live music and throughout the summer months the atmosphere becomes increasingly vibrant! In 2011, the Castlebay Bar will celebrate its centenary.
	Heathbank - The small, friendly team here will make you feel very welcome as you relax and enjoy a drink and perhaps a bar supper. Located in Northbay, and often frequented by local fishermen after a hard day's work, this former church has been beautifully renovated to create a tranquil ambiance.
	Craigard - Infamous for its Sunday afternoon entertainment with locals playing a traditional music with accordions, tin whistles and fiddles, you will find everyone is very welcome to join in!
	Isle of Barra - Newly modernised, friendly atmosphere.
