Description
Woodview is a spacious and welcoming four-bedroom bungalow on the Isle of Barra, comfortably sleeping up to eight guests all on one level. Nestled in a unique setting, the house looks out through one of Barra’s rare pockets of native woodland towards the Minch, offering a view that changes with every season and every light. Start your day in perfect peace. Brew a barista-style coffee with our bean-to-cup machine, settle into a comfortable chair, and watch the morning light filter through the woodland towards the Minch. It’s the perfect moment to gather your thoughts before a day of island adventure.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for self-catering, including a full-size oven, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge-freezer, plus an Instant Pot, Air Fryer, and all the essentials for preparing a family feast. On cooler evenings, the bright, open-plan living area is the ideal space to gather. Cosy up in front of the traditional open fire and enjoy a family movie night on the Sony 65″ OLED 4K HDR Smart TV — simply log in to your own streaming services and you’re set (please note: this will be our last season with the open fire before it is replaced with a log-burning stove for future seasons).
The bungalow features four comfortable bedrooms and two shower rooms, each with its own WC — whether you’re getting ready for a day on the beach or heading out for the evening, having two showers makes life that bit easier for everyone. Flexible accommodation for all types of groups.
Woodview is a haven for wildlife watchers. Look to the skies, where you can often see white-tailed sea eagles hovering over Heaval, and a flock of wild geese are routine visitors to the croft. A neighbouring crofter also grazes their two Eriskay ponies, Ben and Dom, on the croft in front of the house, so you may be lucky enough to see them during your stay.
The house is connected via Starlink, so you’ll have fast, reliable internet even on a remote Hebridean island — perfect for keeping the kids entertained or staying in touch when you need to.
Outside, there is private off-road parking and an enclosed garden and patio area, providing a safe space for children to play and for your dog to relax. Woodview is pet-friendly, and we are happy to welcome well-behaved dogs.
Barra is an island of extraordinary beauty and Woodview is perfectly placed to explore it all. The pristine beaches of Tangasdale and Traigh Mhor are a short drive away, Kisimul Castle sits in Castlebay harbour, and the Hebridean Way starts just across the causeway on Vatersay.
Whether you are a multi-generational family looking for accessible single-storey living, a group of friends cycling the Hebridean Way, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat from the everyday, Woodview is your home on Barra.
